Types Of German Visas From Bangladesh

All German visa types fall under two main categories: Short-Term Visa (Schengen Visa) for up to 90 days stay, and Long-Term (National Visa) for more than 90 days allowance.

Key Requirements For Germany Visa From Bangladesh

Regardless of all visa types, there are some key requirements for a German Visa from Bangladesh. 

To prepare for your German visa application, you will need to assemble two sets of the following documents:

Application Form: 

Completely filled out and signed Schengen visa application form, which is typically available for download on the embassy’s official website. 

Visit the e VIDEX website to fill out the application online. Ensure that all the information you provide is accurate and comprehensive.

barcodes.

Declaration of Accuracy of Information: 

Include a signed declaration affirming the accuracy of the information provided in your application.

Passport: 

Your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure date from Germany. 

It must contain a minimum of two blank pages and have been issued within the last ten years. Don’t forget to double-check these passport requirements

Identification Photographs: 

Provide one recent biometric passport sized photograph (35 x 45 mm, white background, 70% to 80% face coverage); For any religious reasons, head coverings are accepted.

Note: Do not glue or staple the picture to the application form.

Proof of Residency in Bangladesh: 

Furnish evidence of your residency in Bangladesh, such as a utility bill. Submit both the original document and a copy.

Residence Permit: 

If you hold a valid residence permit, submit proof of this along with an additional copy. They may also require Valid Bangladesh residence permit for non-Bangladeshi applicants (valid at least 3 months from the date of expiry of the requested visa/ intended end of journey).

Schengen Travel Health Insurance: 

Include proof of purchased travel health insurance that covers you throughout the Schengen Area. The policy should offer a minimum of EUR 30,000 in medical coverage, including coverage for medical emergencies (Medical insurances of credit cards are not accepted).

Proof of Accommodation: 

Submit evidence of your accommodation arrangements during your stay in Germany. This can take the form of a hotel reservation, a rental agreement, an Airbnb booking, or, if you’re staying with someone. Your accommodation has to be identical with your flight reservation.

Travel Itinerary: 

Present a travel itinerary outlining your plans for entry and movement within Germany. This should include proof of a reserved flight ticket.

Proof of Sufficient Financial Means: 

Provide legal personal bank statements of at least the last 6 months before application and proof of other financial means and assets (e.g. DPS, FDR, holding tax payment receipt etc.)

This demonstrates that you possess ample funds to cover your travel to Germany. The bank statements should clearly display the owner’s name and address.

Letter of Invitation:

If you are visiting a family member or friend, obtain an invitation letter from your host. This letter should specify your relationship with the host and the purpose of your visit. If your host is sponsoring your trip, they should clearly state this in the letter.

Cover Letter:

You must show a personal covering letter explaining the purpose of your visit and who will bear the travel cost.

Documentations Based On Profession

If employed by a company in Bangladesh:

  • A Letter from your local employer with name, address and contact details of sponsor/company. 
  • Also, add details regarding applicant’s working position, starting date of employment, salary and timeframe of work leave (expected date to resume duties), purpose of travel

If self-employed:

  • A copy of the valid trade license of your own company/employer’s company
  • Copy of Certificate of Incorporation with Memorandum of article (only the pages with the name of the shareholders of the company), if applicable
  • Original Company’s bank statements for the past 6 months, mentioning overdraft limit (if any overdraft limit); if travel cost will be borne by your company.

If student:

  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from school/college/university

Documentation for Minor Applicants: 

If minors are applying, you must also provide the following documents:

  • A signed application form by both parents.
  • Proof of custody if one parent has sole custody of the child.
  • Original passports of both parents along with copies.
  • Birth certificates of the children. Include the original birth certificate and a copy.
  • A notarized travel consent letter if both parents or legal guardians cannot visit the embassy or visa center together.

Additional Requirements For Different Visa Types

2. Complete Visa Application Form

How To Apply For Germany Visa From Bangladesh?

From May 2023, VFS Global is responsible for all German visa processing. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Select The Visa Type:

If you’re applying for the first time, you’ll likely need a Schengen visa. However, if you have a prior valid Schengen visa, you can travel without restrictions. Determine the purpose of your visit and choose the visa that suits your needs.

Step 2: Check Visa Requirements:

After selecting the visa type, create a checklist of the required documents and funds. Visit the website of the German Embassy in Dhaka, or the German consulate where you plan to apply.

Step 3: Complete the Visa Application Form:

You can either apply online or Download the Schengen Visa application form. Fill it out completely with all details, and sign it. 

Ensure you have all the necessary supporting documents, including a valid passport, recent photos, travel itinerary, travel insurance, proof of financial means, employment letter or business documents, and for students, an acceptance letter from a German educational institution. 

Step 4: Schedule an Appointment:

Go to the website of VFS Global, register with your details, and book a scheduled appointment. In the appointment, submit your application with all the additional documents.

During peak seasons, the waiting period for appointments can extend up to two months. You can book an appointment up to 3 months in advance of your departure flight date.

Step 5: Attend the Visa Interview:

On the scheduled date, attend the visa interview at the German consulate or visa application center. Be punctual, bring all required documents.

Step 6: Biometrics Collection:

You may be required to provide biometric data, such as fingerprints and a photograph, at the visa application center. This can be done thoroughly at the VFS Global office. 

Step 7: Pay the Visa Fee:

Pay the non-refundable visa fee. The fee may vary depending on the type of visa and your age.

Here is a list of visa fees:

1. Schengen Visa (including transit and airport transit): 80.00 Euro

For children (aged between 6-11): 40.00 Euro

2. National Visa (visa with a validity of more than 90 days): 75.00 Euro

For children (aged between 0-17): 37.50 Euro

3. The followings are exempted from Schengen Visa fees:

  • Children under 6 years of age
  • Spouses and minor children of German citizens
  • Parents of minor German nationals
  • Students with a scholarship from public funds
  • Guest scientists traveling to Germany for research

Note: In all those cases, in which document verification is necessary, you have to pay an additional fee of 28,000/- BDT to the visa processing center or embassy.

Step 8: Wait for Processing:

The processing time for a Germany Visa can vary, but it typically takes around 15 calendar days. 

During this period, your application will be thoroughly reviewed by the German authorities. However, national visa processing time is approximately 6–12 weeks.

Step 9: Collect Your Visa:

Once your visa is approved, you will be informed to collect your visa from the consulate or visa application center. Remember to bring your passport and the visa fee receipt.
